Birjand Green
Green Iranian stone from Birjand, also traded as Pistachio Green. Classification varies by quarry — we state what the certificate says.
Birjand Green comes from the Birjand area of South Khorasan. It is a green stone, sometimes closer to olive, sometimes to pistachio, and it is sold internationally as Birjand Green, Green Birjand and Pistachio Green.
The classification deserves a straight answer. The German stone databases list Birjand material inconsistently: some entries classify it as gneiss, another Birjand Green entry as green slate, while international trade listings sell it as granite. These are not small differences — a gneiss and a slate behave differently under load and weathering.
