Green Onyx
Green Iranian onyx with layered banding, the most requested onyx colour for backlit panels.
Green Onyx runs from pale sage to a deeper bottle green, with lighter and darker bands following the original deposition layers. Under transmitted light the banding becomes the dominant feature, which is why most green onyx is specified with backlighting in mind.
Banding direction is a design decision taken at the saw: cutting across the layers gives concentric, cloud-like figures, cutting along them gives parallel stripes. Book-matched pairs from one block produce a symmetrical panel and are worth planning for early.
Supplied as raw blocks and slabs. Because colour saturation and translucency differ between blocks, we photograph and video the actual block before dispatch rather than sending a representative sample.
